Meet Wayne & Phyllis

Two decades of shared passion for cutting boards, high quality timber sourcing, and hand-rubbed organic finishes.

Homestead Studio

The Origin of Sculpture Flame

Our journey started over 20 years ago. What began as a shared passion for lathe-turning wooden bowls grew into Sculpture Flame, a dedicated homestead shop in Myrtle, MS where Wayne & Phyllis share every aspect of the craftβ€”from lathe turning and shaping high quality raw timber to hand-finishing each piece with organic beeswax and mineral oil.

We take immense pride in working together to ensure our hand-turned bowls, cutting boards, and charcuterie trays become central pieces in family kitchens, holiday gatherings, and daily meal preparation.

"When you hold a piece of natural turned wood, you feel the grain, weight, and history of the tree. There is no artificial substitute for real woodcraft."

Our Crafting & Woodworking Process

1

High Quality Timber Sourcing

We select high quality red cedar, walnut, cherry, and maple lumber, giving premium hardwood a second life as heirloom kitchenware.

2

Precision Cutting & Lathe Work

Each cutting board is carefully ripped, cross-cut, and joined for maximum strength, while decorative and salad bowls are shaped on the wood lathe.

3

Kiln Drying (Cutting Boards)

Our hardwood stock is thoroughly kiln dried before and during crafting to stabilize moisture levels, prevent warping, and maximize heirloom durability.

4

Hand-Rubbed Organic Finish

Each piece is hand-sanded up to 320-grit smooth and finished with multiple coats of our homemade organic beeswax board butter.
